About Me.

I first started down this path with a natural inclination toward becoming an educator. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Family Community Services, with a specialization in early childhood development. After graduation I received my first position as an early childhood teacher, working with children ages two and a half to four. Shortly after, my life switched gears as I moved abroad to live in the British Virgin Islands for a new opportunity creating a children’s center for a developing resort. While working in hospitality fulfilled a work value of connecting with people, the intention behind the work was missing for me and I felt compelled to reconnect with my passions away from hospitality.

After leaving the island and moving to Oregon in 2018, I found comfort in revisiting my passion for early childhood by working at a child development center in an infant and toddler classroom. The center allowed further development of my understanding of early childhood and reignited my passion for teaching and interacting with this young age group. I also knew I wanted to pursue further education and after some consideration of a masters program I was continually drawn to the practice of counseling. I felt there was an aspect of it associated to my work with early childhood, yet allowed me to connect in a new and different way to individuals and families. I decided to enter into the graduate program at Corban University and completed my masters in the summer of 2021.

During my time at Corban I was lucky enough to engage with a variety of populations to help them on their healing journeys. I began to see how the various stages of life impact our ability to transition and shift into new flows. I started focusing on combining my knowledge of how we develop through childhood and applying my counseling theory framework to help individuals connect to who they are becoming, rather than holding onto patterns or behaviors that no longer fit their needs.

As a new mom myself, I began to see even more ways in which my own past was influencing my journey as a parent. I feel passionate about being able to help new parents, children, and families recognize ways that healing themselves can help not only them but the people they are in relationship with. I believe that a strong, healthy, secure relationship is the key to all healing and want to be able to join you on that journey.
